OverviewWhen the rift opened above Bamako, Mali, only one thing came though. A gigantic spider-like creature, the size of several city blocks, descended from the other side on a mile-long filament of web. Within the night, the city of Bamako was covered with webs. Within a month, the entire Capital District was invisible under the web. Soon after that were the first reports of strange spidery half-humans, and worse. The Web would grow continually, added onto by the things that live within, if it were not for the constant efforts of the nations that surround it, but even so, many fear it is a losing fight.

FriendsNo one is truly friendly with the archnids that make their home in The Web, but they have apparently negotiated a truce with Avernus, for as long as they are not opposed. It works with Avernian plans so far, and so it has been upheld.

The Children
The Spider's Children are many, and no one knows quite where they came from. Did the Spider arrive ready to lay eggs? Are the Chosen somehow changed again after their first transformation? The Children are as the Spider, but smaller, varying from just bigger than a human, to larger than a tank. Oddly though, they seem to have features in their faces that at times resemble misshapen humans. |
Chosen
From the ranks of the cultists, a select few are offered to the Spider. Taken by the Spider's children, they are returned with multiple spider bites and lacerations, emaciated, almost as if they're been fed upon, but without their humanity. They gain great strength and dexterity, but any sign of their former selves are gone. |
Cultists
Not all the humans fled when the Spider came. Some, long told of Anansi, heralded this as a return to dominance for the ancient tribes that worshiped him, and lent their support in driving out the government forces. For this, the Spider lets them live in the Web, as long as they don't mind the occasional sacrifice. |
