Nordviken* sits on a large lake connected to the sea by a wide river. For as long as anyone can remember, the halflings of Nordviken have been a force to reckon with. In the distant past, many raids were launched by Nordkiven up and down the coast, all in order to bring praise to Haidar, but Nordviken has since learned of Citlali, and found that their passions can be expressed in numerous ways, and so the city has turned more to trade than to war.
Nordviken remained a harsh city, but as wealth replaced war, towers replaced cottages, and the sprawling town turned into a fortress. As more and more building as done, Nordviken's shipwright's guild split into two, the Seaward Guild which stayed with more traditional seafaring work, and the Landward Guild that began to apply techniques learned to larger and larger projects, until all of Nordviken was a series of massive towers that were said to be untouchable. And then the Storm King came.
During the Sky Wars, Nordviken saw a renewal of the sailing arts, but this time as smugglers instead of raiders. Even though Nordviken suffered numerous attacks from the Storm King, it never quite lost it's spirit. At the end of the Sky Wars, the space between the towers that still remained in Nordviken was full of rubble. Nordviken would have likely been abandoned if not for the Landward Guild which began to work for free to rebuild the city, becoming the defacto rulers of the city.
Much work remains, but with Nordviken sealing the contract with Stalassokalven for the shipment of ore from their very prosperous mines to Blackvale, Windrise, and Kestralstrommen, things are beginning to look up once again for the city.
