OverviewMillenia ago, on Niflheim, a Stone Age race of giants, the Thursar, were caught in the middle of a war between two far-advanced enemies, and their homeland was desolated. In the years after, as the conflict between the more advanced civilisations continued, the Thursar priests heard the voice of the Jördh. It told them that the world would not survive if the conflict amongst the Gods went unchecked.
Thus began the Thursar's unending vigilance against technology. Armed with only spears, swords, and shields, accompanied by terrible beasts, and taking refuge against counter-attacks in their hidden underground cities, they harrassed both sides until it was no longer profitable for them to continue the conflict. The day the warring civilisations left the Thursar's world, they vowed to remain steadfast against any who would wield the evils of the Gods. |
FriendsAnyone who is not belligerent toward Niflheim is considered a friend and a possible ally in the Thursar's fight against technology. Niflheim is friendly toward Adlivun and Avalon, and probably would be toward Hanan Pacha and Horai, were they to meet.
EnemiesAnyone who uses high technology, which the Thursar think of as the evil of the Gods, is immediately considered an enemy. They're not strong enough to fight everyone at once, but they'll get around to you. Anyone who is belligerent toward the Thursar is also considered an enemy. Niflheim is enemies with Avernus, Eden, and Vahalla, and would surely be with Naraka, Sipopu, Tír na Nóg, and Xibalba, if they were to meet.

Denizens
Ber
These are bears, larger than normal ones on scale with the Thursar, with bone plates that protect their flanks. The bones are usually filed to a point by the Thursar, so when a bear charges, you're best bet is to get out of the way. Greifling Grieflings are very similar to badgers, and travel in large packs. Instead of fur, though, they're covered in spines and bone plates. The Thursar don't call their pets greiflings, but everyone else seems to have agreed that that's the best name for them. You do not want to be swarmed by these things. |
Nir
These are larger than the Thursar, but tame unless ordered to attack. The Thursar claim that they were given dominion over the nir by the Jördh, who gave them as gifts to fight against the Gods. Nir resemble nothing if not dragons, bone plating their hide instead of scales. Their scream is able to disrupt electronics within a large radius, which seems to vary by age. The Thursar ride nir into battle, especially when the other side might have air support. |
Thursar
These people stand between 15 and 20 feet tall, and are extremely muscular. They wear no armour, instead being able to heal quite quickly, but their arsenal does include shields, which they not only defend with, but also outfit with blades or spikes and use offensively. They typically carry spears and swords as well, usually stone. Some are proficient in nature magic. |
