RACES
Dragonborn
The original dragons were powerful creatures. So powerful were they, that even though they were created by Kord in the second age, they were soon deemed a threat. Kord tried to wipe them from existence, but they survived. In order to do so, however, they were forced to shed much of their power and hide among the more mortal races.
- Dragonborn always have at least one physical aspect of dragons.
- Dragonborn have a very sharp temper, and tend to variate between inactivity and sharp bursts of energy.
- Even the lowliest, most humble Dragonborn dreams of power and gold and destruction. Some enjoy this more than others.
Dwarf
Dwarves are born from the earth. In times immemorial, they were Glaaki's slaves, forced to work his mines in support of his various wars, both celestial and earthly. Since the Sundering, though, most dwarves have sworn never to serve another master. Even though many still feel at home underground, they refuse to do menial work.
- Dwarves will not do rote work, or anything that requires incessant repetition. They are, however, very well known for their craftsmanship. They produce masterful weapons and art, no two of which look the same.
- Dwarves do not have children. New dwarves are born from the earth as well, out of carvings that sometimes take decades to make. Somehow, no one knows precisely, once a carving is sufficiently life-like it simply steps down from the pedestal and begins life as a dwarf, with knowledge of everything that's happened since its carving began.
- Dwarves are typically fun-loving, with a propensity to heavy drinking, however, call into question any of their art or crafts, and you will likely have a fight on your hands.
Elf
It is said that elves were originally born from Maleldil's magic, and lived off his power. Terminus though, is far from Maleldil's grace now. Some elves that are alive now remember the golden days of their power, but most do not. Thus, many younger elves are either listless or filled with wanderlust, seeking a cause that they'll never find.
- Elves are extremely single-minded, and do not brook interference in their affairs, which usually comes off to other races as being aloof or arrogant.
- Each elf has a cause, and until that cause has been corrected, or finished, an elf ages slowly, as if even now, Maleldil reaches out to sustain them on their journey.
- On the other hand, an elf's refusal to pursue their cause can cause them to age more quickly than normal, often living no longer than humans.
Man
Created as a sort of truce between the gods, man was gifted with many blessings from both sides, and many wondrous creations scattered the world, but then, Terminus was thrown out of place during the Sundering. All of the wonders of the world were shattered, or simply stopped working. Now, man is at once the least of the races, and the grandest, having nothing compared to their past, but still having the strength of spirit to hang on and survive.
- Men are usually fascinated by old ruins. There's always a dig going somewhere, trying to unearth and understand the past.
- Men are very superstitious. Possibly it's because the power of the titans still surges through their veins and divine power moves their hearts.
- Men are divided, and greedy. They crave power, and even the strongest alliances will eventually fall to bickering and strife.
Orcs
Orcs, created by Ea, never really settle down into polite society. Even in the area of Nordviken where they predominantly settled, their government is more a loose association of tribes than a full-fledged state, with each clan having it's own chieftains, the Thing. However, given the need, they will assemble their chieftains in the Althing, and every small grouping of clans sends envoys to the permanent assembly, the Everthing.
- Orcs are sworn to protect the balance of all things. This also includes economically. Hence the banking system known world over, the Sumthing.
- Orcs tend to settle things through one of two ways, talking, or fighting. Just dont' be too sure which one is coming. An orc will talk to you as long as he's not upset, and then when he's decided it's not doing any good, it's war.
- Orcs are very in tune with nature. Any imbalance in the world is sought to be righted, and those who do not show nature the proper respect generally don't get treated well.
Gearforged
In several of the wars of earlier ages, intelligent constructs were sent into battle by Moradin's followers. Designed to be shut down after the wars, some models survived but were isolated, and others were reactivated throughout the years, so that they are an uncommon sight but not an altogether unexpected one.
- Gearforged were designed for war, and are quite logical, but don't have human emotions. They do seem to have their own version of emotions, but it's not always easy to interpret them.
- Some gearforged have taken it upon themselves to rebuild severely damaged units, and there is a rumor, renewed every few years, that there is a lost Manufactory that is slowly building new models, manned by various gearforged throughout the years.
- Gearforged spend much of their time rebuilding, whether it be roads, buildings, machinery, etc. Most gearforged not involved in any major task can be found refurbishing equipment for themselves or friends.
Godtouched
Godtouched are not a race of their own, but those of any race who are the descendants of those who worked powerful deeds in the name of their gods and were blessed because of it.
Dark Godtouched (Tiefling)
- Light Godtouched are descend from worshipers of Maleldil, Memnor, Moradin, and the Raven Queen. They tend to gather in and around Talbulhäim.
- Mossbank Cliffs is home to many of the Dark Godtouched whose ancestors were in service to Daoloth, Ea, Glaaki, and Kord.
- Godtouched live longer than normal, although it's unclear whether this is an added blessing or simply a side-effect of their luck.
