The End of AgesLegend tells that God (or the Gods, in some versions) were angry because the people had strayed from their path, and so they brought a great quaking upon the land, along with a bitter winter. Not all the Gods agreed, and a war in the heavens was set in motion.
Those mortals that survived discovered that the world had changed to a wasteland, and were forced to flee south to live. Humans, elves, and dwarves all have variations on this legend. In the human version, the Ice Father was the one ultimately responsible. The dwarves claim Hammerfist drove the ocean apart to create new lands. Elven myths say that it was not a punishment at all, but that the cataclysm was the result of a war between gods, not the cause of it.
Early HistoryWhen the three races came south, they did not all come together, and so for a long while, they were unaware of each other's existence. Because of their lost history, the meeting anew of the humans and dwarves was a great surprise, and for many unwelcome. Many humans in Nemohaim were not comfortable with the idea that a vast nation of other people lived beneath them, and the dwarves were concerned to discover that humans had found the ancient entrance burrows. War nearly broke out more than one, but over time, humans began migrating away, becoming the seeds of new colonies, Tabul, Treika, Firanes, and Haedien. Some dwarves, too, decided to seek out new lands instead of living with the humans, and settled to the north, in Ylareloth.
