Scymira* was said to be the first human city in Covenant lands. It is certainly old - old enough that even magically protected records of it's origins have since crumbled away. It was looked to by all the continent as a leader in culture, religion, and the arts and seat of the Senate of Aegotl. It was also the first city to be attacked by the Storm King.
The attack was so sudden that no real defense was raised, but that was besides the point. The Storm King used Scymira as an example, nearly destroying the city in his attack. Once it belonged to him, he began by exiling any humans who would not serve him, using them as unwitting messengers to the other cities, showing what would happen to them if they dared to resist. The non-humans were captured and driven into slavery.
Scymira was unlucky enough to also be the site of the last battle in the Sky Wars, the Tempest. The maelstrom of magic, monsters, and firepower that was brought to bear on the city was so great that little of the original city still exists, and what does is in ruins.
However, the land has healed quickly, and although the city has yet to be rebuilt to any significant degree, people are returned to live on their land in the shadows of the war.
